We started our dream of running a Bed and Breakfast in October 2024 with the idea of bringing back a sense of the past. Comfy beds, hot showers, a cooked breakfast with a touch of the 'roaring 1920's' but with all of the comforts the 21st Century can offer.

Barbour House is more than a place to stay — it’s a labour of love created by Lissy and Chris.
Drawn to the charm of historic Gunning and the character of a beautiful 1920s home, they lovingly restored Barbour House to create a welcoming country retreat where guests can slow down, reconnect and feel completely at home.
Lissy brings creativity, warmth and a passion for good food to every experience offered at Barbour House. From beautifully presented high teas to hands-on cheese making classes, she delights in sharing skills, flavours and a touch of indulgence with guests.
Chris balances the picture with practical know-how, quiet hospitality and a genuine enjoyment of meeting people from all walks of life. Together, they have created a space that feels relaxed, generous and authentic.
Their vision is simple: To offer thoughtful country hospitality, meaningful experiences and a place where time moves just a little more gently.
